Your neck is a delicate balance of 7 movable bones call vertebrae, muscles,
ligaments and nerves. In addition you have "discs" between the
vertebrae and blood vessels that carrying blood to the brain in your neck. Any
subluxation ( vertebrae out of place) can cause a tremendous amount of pain,
suffering and increased stress. Your spinal column is enclosed with the
vertebrae of the spine and as you know neck injuries can cause some serious
spinal cord and nerve damage. Some of the nerves in the neck go to the shoulder,
arms, hands, and fingers. This can result in decreased grip strength, pain or
numbness in the hands or fingers. Many times people believe they have Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome because of this numbness in their hands and fingers.
Another common complaint is Headaches as some of these nerves go to different
parts of the head. Trigeminal-Neuralgia of facial tics can be caused with
misaligned vertebrae in the neck.
If you are experiencing any type of pain, numbness in your hands or wrists,
shoulder pain or headaches you may have a problem that is serious but
preventable if caught early enough.
